Are you experiencing any recurrent pain in your body? The good news is that you can effectively manage chronic pain and symptoms through yoga practice.

Pain and tension in the body is a direct reflection of the actions we take in our lives. Tension accumulates at specific muscle and fascial layers in the human body, due to poor postural habits, sedentary lifestyles or repetitive physical activities, like jogging and even yoga. In a pursuit for strength and power in asanas, many modern yogis could unwittingly create excess tension in the body.

Let us release the tension we have accumulated over time in this masterclass led by Dr Bryan Lau and truly experience the deep therapeutic power of yoga — with the use of asanas, props and healing hands.

About the Trainer
Dr Bryan Lau (MB.CH.B, MSC in Sports Medicine and Health Science) is a Doctor of Sports Medicine Clinic in Hong Kong Sports Institute, on top of being a certified yoga instructor at Pure Yoga HK. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

What will be covered? 
- Functional Anatomy of Myofascia
- Understanding the nature of myofascial pain and non-myofascial pain
- Simple assessment methods for treatment of myofascial pain
- Major flaws and limitations of the human body in relation to our daily lives
- Hands-on practice with yoga asanas, props and trigger point release to alleviate common pains

Suitable for yoga teachers who are keen to apply myofascial tension relief techniques in your yoga teachings to benefit your students.
This workshop is also suitable for you if:
* You want to interpret and heal myofascial pain for yourself and the others

* You are keen to integrate and apply knowledge of traditional asana and western medicine together 
* You are an anatomy lover

8:00am to 10:00am: Vinyasa Masterclass

Kickstart your day with a rejuvenating vinyasa practice in the morning! Move deeper into your practice as you explore the boundaries of your mind and body with Vari’s creative vinyasa sequence. In this masterclass, rediscover the connection between your mind, body and breath as you flow in and out of poses under the watchful eyes and guidance of the experienced guru. 

12.30pm to 3.30pm: Inversion/Arm Balance workshop

Ready to overcome your fears of falling over in inversion and arm balances? It takes more than just strength and courage. Pick up tips on effective engagement of your body and bandhas and find your balance in the right alignment to prevent injuries. Feel free to try poses you have never tried before, and traverse new terrains in a safe environment to build a stronger practice.

4:00pm to 6:00pm: Dynamic Bodyworks - Basics of Thai Yoga Massage

Pick up basic techniques of Thai Yoga Massage and share your healing touch of love. Traditional Thai Massage has its roots in the concepts of Ayurveda and Yoga. Largely focused on balancing and regulating the energy flow in one's physical body, this form of dynamic bodywork aims to diminish pain and discomfort. In this session, have a first-hand experience of the effectiveness of these healing techniques which is a great way to help relax and soothe someone around you after a long day.
