Module Descriptions

Practical & Functional Application through Yin Yoga

With wondrous prowess to heal and restore the body, Yin yoga is a great style of yoga to explore through scientific lenses as we examine the physiological and physical effects the practice has on us.

Upon completion of the module, yoga teachers will attain a deeper understanding of the anatomy and physiology of Yoga, demystifying some of the common concepts in yoga through scientific explanations.

Teachers will become proficient in the integration of anatomy, TCM meridian theory of energy and mindfulness components into the practice and teaching of Yin Yoga.

Theory focus: Advanced Yoga Anatomy and Physiology

In this module, we dive deeper into advanced anatomy for spine, hips, knees, and shoulders in relation to yoga practice. To further understand the science behind yoga, we will also cover the physiology of stretching, physiology of pain and how yoga can help. As part of understanding alternative views of the human body, we explore the Meridian Theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and how it can be applied in the sequencing of yoga postures.

Asana focus: Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a passive and quieter style of yoga that focuses on the health of connective tissues in the body. In this module, we will explore the philosophy and principles of Yin yoga, look at 15 archetypal yin poses with a detailed breakdown of anatomical focus, variations, modifications for safety and effectiveness. Teachers will learn to effectively sequence a Yin Yoga class based on anatomical function as well as TCM Meridian theory.

Advanced Teaching Techniques through Dynamic Vinyasa Sequencing

Yoga Teaching is indeed an art and skill that takes time to develop. The understanding of intentions and purposes of dynamic movement and transitions is crucial to creative, safe and effective sequencing; while the discovery of one’s unique teaching style, tone and language establish your presence.

Upon completion of the module, yoga teachers would be able to mature and elevate the standards of their teaching skills to design, plan and lead intermediate and advanced classes with confidence. The process will help yoga teachers to refine their teaching voice and reinforce their personal intention and passion as a yoga teacher.

Teachers will be able to share the ancient wisdom, art and science of Yoga to their future students with integrity, passion and skill.

Theory focus: The Art and Language of Teaching

A true teacher knows how to teach according to the learning styles of the student. In this module, yoga teachers will explore different teaching techniques. We will cover various aspects of teaching, including different teaching methodologies, classroom management, language and tone of voice, body language, thematic planning of classes, different learner profiles, ethics and professional code for yoga teachers.

Asana focus: Vinyasa Yoga and Sequencing

An increasingly popular style of yoga, teaching Vinyasa yoga classes requires the yoga teacher to be creative and also confident in the technicalities and safety in the smooth transition from one posture to the next. This is especially important when it comes to the biomechanics of different postures (varying from simple to complex). In this module, we explore the principles behind effective vinyasa sequences that help students unlock their potential when it comes to challenging postures.

100-HOUR: BACK TO CLASSICS (Hatha & Philosophy)
The Yoga Sutras & Alignment Precision in Hatha Yoga

Classical yoga has roots in Iyengar and Hatha Yoga study, which are key to strengthen our holistic understanding and foundation in yoga before we can branch out to more applications and styles with ease.

Upon completion of the module, yoga teachers will have improved proficiency in teaching yoga asanas to students with different needs and conditions, through the effective use of props, proper sequencing and alignment in the Iyengar Yoga style.

Yoga teachers will also be able to weave concepts of yoga philosophy into their day-to-day classes, so students will have a richer learning experience, from physical asanas to the more subtle knowledge and exploration of the self.

Theory focus: Yoga Philosophy and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras

During the course, the background and basis of yoga philosophy will be covered. Following the structure of the four chapters in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, we will examine the essence of each sutra, analyzing and discussing the possible interpretations and its practical applications in life situations. Key Sanskrit terms in the sutras will be learned, along with other important background concepts in Samkhya Philosophy.

Asana focus: Alignment Precision in Hatha Yoga

With props, such as belts, chairs, bolsters, blocks, we can help the practitioners achieve correct alignment and a deeper understanding of yoga postures while cultivating body awareness and intelligence. In this module, we will take reference from the unique aspects of the Iyengar method, namely, technicalities, timing and sequencing to assist us in alignment precision and the mastery of our body.
