Explore the introspective effects of sound and how it can be integrated with yoga. This course will provide an overview of the various forms of sound including musical instruments like Tibetan singing bowls, steel drums, chimes and the traditional harmonium as well as Om chanting, musical playlists and mantras, and how to weave these elements into your yoga practice. Led by Meiyan Cheong, this immersion is open to all who resonate with a sound-centric yoga practice and are keen on understanding the basics of sound and yoga. A 30hr comprehensive module (CET eligible) is also open to Yoga Teachers. This training explores both Yoga and Sound, and is not limited to singing bowl sound healing. No music background is necessary. You are welcome to bring any musical instruments you have to the training, although this is not compulsory.

About Meiyan Cheong
Meiyan specialises in both Vinyasa Flow and Yin, and enjoys guiding her students towards finding that beautiful dance between Yin (that which grounds and nourishes) and Yang (that which invigorates and uplifts) both on and off the mat. The delicate balance between holding on with control and trusting just enough to let go is a lesson she continues to work on till this day.
She has a passion for sound healing and incorporates this in her teaching and self-practice in the form of instruments, mantras and music, sometimes bringing an instrument or two into her classes for her students to enjoy the relaxing and introspective effects of sound. Music also influences her style and rhythm in a flow practice, and she enjoys creatively stringing poses together to form a moving meditation that almost resembles a dance. Her journey with yoga is rooted in the study of its philosophy, but continues to evolve in her exploration of the bhakti (devotional) path, especially with her newfound love for Kirtan (devotional singing).
As a graduate from the third batch of teachers from Yoga Seeds in 2016, Meiyan has now come full circle as part of the teacher training faculty in the hopes that the future trainees will have as meaningful and authentic an experience as she did.
Outside of yoga, she can be found out on a bike ride under the sun, coaching swimming, painting on large canvases or exploring the sea and its wonders. She also enjoys quiet time at home with her three cats, who have frequently made guest appearances in her online classes.
